- The lack of scoring. 1-0 sucks. Sorry but it does. The die hard fans fight this argument tooth and nail pointing out how I don't understand the intricacies of the game. Guilty as charged. But truthfully, as a futbol fan, wouldn't you prefer to watch a match that ends 4-3? I prefer high scoring baseball, hockey, football, and basketball too.
- The ties. I really and truly felt confused after the Portugal game. I kind of need to be happy for a victory or sad about a loss. I'd like some closure after I've invested an hour and a half on the couch.
- Extra time. What? The game is over, but it's not? So we're going to play for a while longer because...? And it's not exactly 4 minutes more but kind of a rough estimate of that? Last second shots with the game on the line and the clock winding down make Sports Center Top Ten for a reason. They are thrilling and fun to watch. Get a scoreboard and a game clock for Pete's sake.
- The flopping. REE-diculous. Certainly this goes on in all sports (read: The NBA) but nowhere else do I see the extreme faces of agony I'm seeing out there on the pitch. These guys get their legs tangled up and fall down looking like they're midway through passing a kidney stone.
So I hope this helps you understand why we don't understand. Basically we're stupid Americans.
